Look What we Learned This Week 1D News

 Phonics/Grammar-   We are continuing to work on homophones this week.  Also, the class is being introduced to contractions.     They are also working on the ang and ank word chunks.  They are sorting and reading the words this week. 

Reading/Writing-   We are diving back into reading groups this week.  Each group received a new guided reading book last week and completed comprehension activities.  The class did a wonderful job on their short cycle assessments.  I will be forming some small study groups to work any areas that need improvement. 

Math-   In math, the class is working turn around facts.  We will be starting timed tests in addition the beginning of next week.  I will be sending home more information about this activity. 

Science:    This week the class will be reviewing magnets and forces.  They will be taking a test on these subjects this week. 

    Next, they will be starting a unit on weather and seasons.  How appropriate after the bought of weather we have seen this past weekJ

 

Looking Ahead ·       Valentines party will be Friday!  Please send in your decorated box and cardsJ

No school Monday for President’s Day

*The kick-off for Jump Rope for the Heart is coming up next week!

 

*The class did exceptional on their 100th day projects.  Their presentations were awesome and there was so much creativity!!!!  Way to go!
